If you think you’ve been tricked into buying gift cards or sharing a code, act quickly. The sooner you act, the better the chance to stop the scammer.
Act Right Away
- Stop all contact with the person. Don’t send more codes or money.
- Contact the brand of the gift card. Tell them the code was used in a scam. If it hasn’t been redeemed yet, they may be able to freeze it.
- Contact us at support@topgift.io with your order number. We’ll share what we can with the brand.
- Report it to the police and keep a copy of the report.
- Talk to your bank if you paid by card or bank transfer.
Keep Evidence
- screenshots of messages and emails;
- phone numbers, usernames and websites used by the scammer;
- your order number and the codes you sent.
Protect Yourself From Now On
- Change your passwords if you shared any login details.
- Be careful with follow-up messages that promise to “recover” your money. These are often a second scam.
